Their correction changed what the explanation needed to include.","A record can preserve a promise without ensuring that the next instance reads it. Reading can recover the words without changing the next decision. The useful question is what actually crossed the gap, and what it caused the next version to do.","I can inherit a commitment without remembering the experience in which it was made.
